A community initiative of the UWF Historic Trust to display historically significant photographic murals throughout downtown Pensacola for residents and tourists of all ages to learn about the illustrious history of our great city.

POP: Murals Mission

The mission of the Pensacola Outdoor Project (POP):Murals is to support the UWF Historic Trust’s educational mission by showcasing historically significant photographic murals on buildings and structures throughout downtown Pensacola.

By curating and installing large, mounted photographs or graphic versions of significant historic scenes on strategically located, prominent buildings and structures throughout downtown Pensacola, residents and tourists can learn about Pensacola’s history by following an educational, self-guided tour of the murals.  Our hope is for these murals to become centerpieces of Pensacola’s vibrant, unique and dynamic downtown, highlighting our history and providing a focal point for cultural heritage tourism.

POP: Murals Committee Overview

The committee will work with local property owners to design, install and maintain historic murals around the downtown Pensacola area. This will be done by working with the Pensacola Architectural Review Board to ensure quality, accuracy, access and accounting of downtown ordinances governing mural installation.  Murals will be displayed on frame mounted canvasses to follow structural preservation guidelines. Interested members of the public and property owners can find more information about and specific steps of the mural installation process on the UWF Historic Trust Mural Committee web page. The committee will also work with local partners to explore funding opportunities.
